It is said that more than 30 lakh tourists visited this place in the year 2023. The toilets built at this place have timers. These timers tell how long the person inside has been in the toilet, each toilet has its own digital timer. This timer counts the time after locking the latch from inside.
Criticism of China on social media
According to The Sun report, when a toilet is empty, the words ’empty’ appear in green on the LET screen. The video of the timer installed in the toilets is going viral on China’s social media Weibo. Many users have criticized China’s act. At the same time, some people jokingly wrote, ‘This will prevent tourists from scrolling their mobile phones while sitting in the toilet.’ Another user wrote, ‘A tourist place is not an office that needs to be monitored, this is really an unnecessary step. Instead of spending money on installing timers, it would have been better to build more toilets.’
No need to knock on the door
Local employees said that the time limit for the toilets has not been set by installing timers. These timers have been installed only because the number of visitors is increasing. One special thing about it is that it shows how long ago the door was closed, that is, it gives an idea of how long it will take to be empty. This saves people from standing in line and knocking on the door to know if there is someone inside or not. This move of China is being linked to its social credit system.
